Erwin Olaf has been nominated for the 2009 Deutsche Borse Prize, an award presented annually to a living photographer who has made the most significant contribution to the medium of photography in Europe over the past year. The winner will receive £30,000 and a traveling exhibition in 2009.

ANDREAS GEFELLER IN EXHIBITION AT NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART
Andreas Gefeller's photographs are included in the current photography exhibition at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO. The group exhibition, entitled "Human/Nature: Recent European Landscape Photography" opened this past June and will close on October 5th. The main focus is a selection of large-scale color photographs by a new generation of European artists and places Gefeller's work alongside artists' such as Peter Bialobrzeski, Massimo Vitali, Olaf Otto Becker, Bart Michiels, Jem Southam, and Wout Berger.
ERWIN OLAF SOLO EXHIBITION AT THE HAGUE IN THE NETHERLANDS
The Hague Photo Museum in The Netherlands will curate a solo exhibition of work by Erwin Olaf, featuring work from his last three series, RAIN, HOPE & GRIEF and his latest series "Fall." The exhibition will run from September 27 - January 11, 2009
MARTIN SCHOELLER TO EXHIBIT AT THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY, WASHINGTON, DC.
Martin Schoeller's "Close Up" photographs will be included in a six-person group exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, DC. "Portraiture Now: Feature Photography" runs through December 4, 2008 through May 10, 2009 and will feature Schoeller's work alongside Katy Grannan, Jocelyn Lee, Ryan McGinley, Steve Pyke and Alec Soth.

PAOLO VENTURA TO EXHIBIT AT INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY, MILAN
The International Center of Photography (FORMA) in Milan, Italy is planning an exhibition of photographs by Paolo Ventura from his most recent series, "Winter Stories." The exhibition will be in December of 2008.
ALEX WEBB INCLUDED IN UK TRAVELING SHOW, OPENS AT HAYWARD GALLERY IN LONDON
On September 25, 2008, the Hayward Gallery in London will open "Disposable People," featuring eight artists commissioned by Magnum. The exhibition will focus on modern day slavery and include 15 photographs by Alex Webb about Haitian sugar cane workers in the Dominican Republic. There will be a book published of the exhibition, which will travel to five other locations in the UK over the next two years.
BOHNCHANG KOO'S VESSEL PHOTOGRAPHS AT SEATTLE ASIAN ART MUSEUM
The Seattle Asian Art Museum has included eight large-scale gelatin silver prints of ancient Korean vessels by Bohnchang Koo in their current exhibition, "Inspired Simplicity: Contemporary Art from Korea." The exhibition will run from July 19 - December 7, 2008.
ANDREAS GEFELLER TO INAUGURATE MUSEUM
What is currently known as the Art Museum of Western Virginia will be including work by Andreas Gefeller in an inaugural exhibition entitled "Rethinking Landscape: Photography from the Allen G. Thomas Jr. Collection." The exhibition, which opens in November, commemorate the opening of a spectacular new building and the change of the institution's name to the Taubman Museum of Art.
MARTIN SCHOELLER'S SECOND MONOGRAPH TO BE RELEASED THIS FALL
Pond Press is publishing Martin Schoeller's second book of photographs. The book will feature his photographs from "Female Bodybuilders," his most recent series. The book will follow his 2005 monograph, "Close Up" published by Steidl, and is scheduled to be released this fall.
STERN TO PUBLISH PORTFOLIO BY MARTIN SCHOELLER
Stern plans to publish a portfolio of work to date by Martin Schoeller, scheduled to be released before the holidays.
LUIS MALLO'S "PASSENGERS" FEATURED IN THE NEW YORK TIMES
Photographs from "Passengers" by Luis Mallo will be illustrating an article in the "City" section of an upcoming New York Times issue. The column, entitled "The City Visible," is written by Bonnie Yochelson.
ERWIN OLAF SOLO EXHIBITION AT THE SOUTHEASTERN CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ART (SECCA)
SECCA, in North Carolina, plans to host a solo exhibition of photographs by Erwin Olaf, which will feature works from HOPE, RAIN & GRIEF, as well as a selection of Mr. Olaf's video works. Plans are in motion for the exhibition to travel the United States.
LYNNE COHEN COMMISSIONED BY UNIVERSITY
Lynne Cohen is currently working on a project commissioned by the University of Navarra in Pamplona. Plans are in motion for a book of the work to be published as well, details of which are to be announced.

Martin Schoeller will travel to Tanzania in September to begin a series of portraits to accompany a story on the Hadza people for National Geographic.
ALEX WEBB TO BE HONORED AT LUCCA PHOTO FESTIVAL
There will be an award presented to Alex Webb during his exhibition at the Lucca Photo Festival in Tuscany, Italy. Mr. Webb will be signing books and hosting workshops during this event, which runs from November 15th through December 8, 2008.
LYNNE COHEN SOLO EXHIBITION IN CHERBOURG, FRANCE
Le Pont du Jour in Cherbourg, France has curated a solo exhibition of works by Lynne Cohen, which will run from June 13th though September 13, 2009. Prior to this, the same institution will include works by Cohen in a group exhibition from November 22, 2008 through February 2009. Both color and black & white photographs from the entire span of Cohen's career will be included in each exhibition.
EUGENE RICHARDS WINS GETTY IMAGES GRANT FOR EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Eugene Richards was selected out of hundreds of photographers to receive a grant of $20,000 and collaborative support from Getty Images. Richards began work on "War is Personal" in 2006 as a series of photo and text essays, which focused on the lives of people in the U.S. who had been profoundly affected by the war in Iraq. The grant will be used to move the project forward in the coming months. At the completion of the project there will be a book and a multimedia piece that interposes photographs with personal writings and interviews to advance the dialogue on the Iraq war.
